FAQS

Sawn stone is cut very precisely by machine technology — right down to the millimetre on all six sides. This process is sometimes referred to as ‘sawn six sides’.

After the cutting process, the sawn stone is then ‘honed’ to smoothen its surface, giving it a polished look and a very aesthetic landscaping appeal. Essentially what happens is the stone is lightly polished to remove any saw marks from the surface.

Honing is popular because it has the effect of enhancing the natural beauty of the sandstone in such a way that cannot easily be replicated with other types of natural or manmade stone.

No. The surface is smooth but non-slip. The initial process to make polished stone is the same used to make a honed finish — but the honed look is created by stopping short of the last stage of polishing. And although polished stone can be slippery, honed sandstone paving does provide some traction and grip.
